NATIONAL PURPLE HEART DAY

On this day in 1782, in Newburgh, New York, General George Washington, the Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army, creates the “Badge for Military Merit,”  which is now the Purple Heart.  On this day, we pay tribute to all military men and women who received the Purple Heart Medal who were awarded the Purple Heart posthumously and to those who were awarded the Purple Heart for surviving their wounds in battle.  Today’s also a good day to thank all military members and Veterans for their service to our country.
